Matthew J. Balsbaugh
Matt Balsbaugh was born and raised in Mid-Michigan and has been with Lori, his high school sweetheart, for over 40 years. They are very proud of their two children, Hunter and Maddison along with Ryan, their son-in-law, who is also part of the firm. Matt believes in strong family values and feels blessed to have his mother, sister, Godmother, and longtime family friend all working with him at the firm.
Matt began his financial career in 1988 in the insurance industry. Matt has a Life Underwriting Training Council Fellowship (LUTCFR) professional designation that is given jointly by The American College and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Matt is very proud to be an Approved Member of the National Ethics Association.
When Matt established Compass Financial Associates LLC and its team, he set out with an objective to help clients eliminate as much confusion as possible in planning their financial future.
Compass Financial Associates LLC and Matt Balsbaugh are very diligent in helping their customers achieve their long-term financial objectives by utilizing insurance products. Ryan Brummans
Ryan was born and raised in Goodrich, Michigan. This is where he met his wife, Maddison. Ryan now resides in the Grand Blanc area with his wife and their two sons, Wyatt and Weston.
Ryan is the 5th generation in the insurance industry. Ryan is proud to be an approved member of the National Ethics Association. Since being in the insurance industry, Ryan has served as a Financial Representative and now as a Vice President of Life Department for Compass Financial Associates.
Ryan joined Compass Financial Associates with an objective to help clients eliminate as much confusion as possible in planning their financial future.
Maddison Brummans
President
Maddison started out at Compass Financial in 2015, right out of college, as an appointment setter. She was then promoted to Vice President of Operations, and then eventually to President. Her responsibilities include just about anything you could think of; she oversees the entirety of operations at the firm. Maddison is outspoken, honest, ambitious, and kind.
When not working, she spends a lot of her time traveling or outdoors. Her husband Ryan also works here at Compass Financial. They have two young children, Wyatt and Weston. Additionally, Maddison has two dogs, labrador retrievers named Zoey and Hadley.
Lori Balsbaugh
CFO
Lori Balsbaugh is Matt’s wife and the CFO of Compass Financial. She runs the firm alongside him, handling compliance and financial responsibilities. Working with numbers has always been something Lori excels at (she worked for an insurance company for 26 years) and that’s part of why she and Matt started Compass Financial. Most of Compass Financial’s employees are members of their family, and they treat clients like family, too.
Lori is kind-hearted, loyal, fair, and loves to travel. And, of course, she loves spending time with her family. Lori and Matt live in Grand Blanc, Michigan, and have two children, Maddison and Hunter, who also work here at the office. They also have two dogs, a white golden retriever named Lainey and a black lab named Maci.
Hunter Balsbaugh
Licensed Insurance Agent
Hunter Balsbaugh was born and raised in Goodrich, Michigan. This is where he met his fiancé, Bailley. Hunter now resides in Davison with his fiancé and their two dogs, Milo & Molly.
Hunter is the 5th generation in the insurance industry. Hunter is proud to be an approved member of the National Ethics Association. Since being in the insurance industry, Hunter has served as a Financial Representative and now as a Vice President of Life Department for Compass Financial Associates.

Chelsea Fink
Vice President of Operations
Chelsea Fink is Compass Financial’s Vice President of Operations. Her responsibilities include various client services, annuity & life insurance applications, suitability, organizing seminars, and more. She has a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development. Prior to working with us, she spent several years working as a teacher. Chelsea finds fulfillment in helping others: she goes above and beyond to ensure our clients’ needs are met, and they’re put at ease. She’s organized, efficient, kind, adaptable, collaborative, and energetic.
When not working, she enjoys reading as a pastime, has a passion for dancing, and of course, enjoys spending time with her family. Her husband’s name is Andy and they have two children, Harper and James. Also, they have four dogs.
Cyleigh Moss
Vice President of Client Relations
Cyleigh Moss is the Vice President of Client Relations at Compass Financial. She is responsible for a number of wealth management and annuity client services, including AUM transfers. Cyleigh is also responsible for customer service phone calls and seminar scheduling and booking. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Human Resources. Cyleigh is kind, caring, organized, energetic, and eager to learn.
When not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors and with her family. She’s married with two daughters, and has quite a few pets: two dogs, two cats, and two ducks.
Randi Alejos
Director of Compliance
Randi is the Director of Compliance with Compass Financial. She’s responsible for assisting Maddison in a number of tasks at our office. Randi is hard-working, driven, loyal, organized, adaptable, and enjoys being around other people. When not working, she spends time traveling, watching sports, or spending time outdoors. She lives in Grand Blanc, MI, with her husband Luciano and their two kids, Jordan and Carter. They also have a dog named Boston.
